In the countryside of Damascus, where apricot orchards stretch and the earth scents with flowers and fruits, everything began. Marwan Al-Sheikh Qwaider looked at these bounties with different eyes, seeing more than just fruits to be picked—he saw a story that could reach every home, a flavor that could tell about Syria and its land.
In 1974, he decided to begin his journey—a journey that wasn't easy and wasn't just business, but a real dream… and from here, the name "Al-Ahlam" (The Dreams) was born.
In a modest factory, he started with the first product… Damascene Qamar Al-Din, a piece of dried apricot. It wasn't an ordinary product—it was a promise… a promise that what comes from this land will reach people as it is.
But dreams don't stop at a limit, and over time, the idea grew. Qamar Al-Din was no longer enough, so Syrian-flavored jams, pickles with authentic countryside taste, juices, sauces, olives of all varieties, tahini, halva, Damascus sesame, tomato paste, oils, canned goods, spices, legumes, and dried fruits were added. Each variety was an extension of one spirit: what comes from nature stays as nature intended.
But the road wasn't paved with roses. Difficult years came—fourteen years in which war shook Syria, life stopped for many, factories closed their doors, and the light of dreams dimmed. But this company carried a name that wasn't coincidence… dreams don't die. It continued working despite everything, never stopping, with faith stronger than any ordeal.
This determination to continue, this confidence in quality, made "Al-Ahlam" grow and establish its place. From the heart of Damascus, it crossed borders, spreading to Europe, America, Africa, and the Arab world. Its name became an ambassador for authentic Syrian food, and every package told a story of land, people, and long patience.
Because it wasn't just a company, but a vision, it committed to the highest quality standards, from crop selection to the latest production lines. It obtained global quality certifications like ISO 9001 and ISO 22000, and FDA approval from the American Food and Drug Administration. These certifications weren't a goal, but a confirmation of the promise it made the day it began.
Today, after more than half a century of work, "Al-Ahlam" stands tall, still faithful to its beginnings, but much larger than it was. It still innovates, develops, and expands its product lines to meet people's needs, but it never forgets its motto that became a philosophy of life: "Nature as Nature Intended."
As it looks to the future, it doesn't just see new markets or additional products, but a continuous journey, a renewing story, and dreams bigger than all that passed. Because the dream that was born among apricot trees in the Damascus countryside is still alive, growing every day, carrying the taste of the earth, the honesty of people, and the determination of those who believed that what starts from the heart always reaches other hearts.
And so, Al-Ahlam wasn't just a company name, but a story… a story that started from simple land and reached the world, to tell everyone who tastes its products: this is the taste of nature… as nature intended
